REBUILD GREEN 2030
Rebuild Green 2030 changes how recovery projects are developed in Ukraine: sustainability is built into the project brief and key decisions from the outset.
This shifts rebuilding towards low-carbon, circular, inclusive and resilient solutions shaped around municipal and community priorities.
The Urban Hackathon provides a participatory process in which local authorities, community representatives, experts, businesses, institutions and potential funding partners align priorities and shape projects together. The programme then connects the strongest proposals with the partners, technologies and financing pathways needed to move towards implementation.
Rebuilding Ukrainian Cities Green began in 2023 through collaboration among FIABCI-Ukraine, SYNCHRO SPACE and Modulina Straw Panels. It was publicly introduced at Architectural Practice 2023, following FIABCI-Ukraine's commitment to the Building Better Lives Global Charter.
Green recovery projects should combine local knowledge with the expertise and resources needed to deliver them. Municipalities and communities work directly with companies, built-environment professionals, researchers and institutions from the beginning.
A municipality defines a challenge. Stakeholders align priorities and multidisciplinary teams develop proposals with guidance from experts and mentors. It is more than a competition—it is a practical way to bring groups together.
Selected projects continue into acceleration, consortium-building and implementation planning. This extends well beyond the Hackathon event itself.
This approach grew into Rebuild Green 2030: a long-term programme that combines collaborative project development with support beyond the Hackathon.
SYNCHRO SPACE
SYNCHRO SPACE designs and facilitates the programme's participatory process. It works with municipalities to turn broad challenges into clear project briefs, brings relevant stakeholders into the conversation, and coordinates the Urban Hackathon and the development process that follows.
FIABCI-UKRAINE
FIABCI-Ukraine brings institutional and professional reach across the real estate and built-environment sectors. Through FIABCI's international network, it connects the programme with professional expertise, public institutions, investors, market actors and potential implementation partners.
MODULINA STRAW PANELS
Modulina Straw Panels brings practical expertise in bio-based materials and prefabricated construction systems. Its specialists advise teams on how straw-based building solutions can be integrated into their projects and provide prefabricated straw panels to support implementation of winning projects.

The UN-Habitat Professionals Forum launched Recovering the Future: A Framework for Transformative Recovery from Disasters at the World Urban Forum 13 in Baku in May 2026.
At the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026, Rebuild Green 2030 was presented as a practical application of the Framework in Ukraine.
The programme puts its principles into action through municipally defined challenges, collaborative project development, acceleration, consortium-building and pathways to financing and delivery.
