WHAT EVERY TEAM WILL DEVELOP

Each challenge has its own scope, but every team will be expected to connect the proposed solution with the way it can be delivered.

Depending on the challenge, the final proposal should address:

• the needs, evidence and stakeholders behind the project;
• a clearly defined first-phase intervention;
• spatial, service or system design;
• sustainability, resilience, inclusion and accessibility;
• operational and maintenance responsibilities;
• stakeholder participation and alignment;
• governance and public–private partnership opportunities where relevant;
• lifecycle costs and possible financing pathways;
• implementation phases;
• potential for replication in other Ukrainian communities.

This is not only an ideas competition. The aim is to develop a project that can be implemented and scaled after the Hackathon.

Teams are not expected to produce permit-ready documentation, detailed construction drawings or a final bill of quantities during the Hackathon.

WHO CAN APPLY

We welcome specialists whose knowledge can help turn a public challenge into a deliverable project.

Relevant fields include:

• architecture and urban planning;
• landscape architecture and ecology;
• engineering, construction and materials;
• energy, climate and circular economy;
• housing and neighbourhood development;
• healthcare and social services;
• education and cultural programming;
• accessibility and inclusive design;
• digital systems and data;
• community participation;
• business models, finance and grants;
• governance, procurement and project delivery.

You may apply individually or as an existing team.

Individual applicants can request international team matching. Teams will be built around the needs of each selected challenge.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE

Participants will have access to:

• a defined challenge and starting materials;
• consultations with the challenge owner and relevant stakeholders;
• guidance from mentors and subject experts;
• an international multidisciplinary working process;
• opportunities to present the project during Demo Day;
• consideration for the programme's post-Hackathon acceleration pathway.

Three prize-winning projects will be selected for further acceleration.

EUR 50,000
in-kind expert acceleration support

The first-place project will receive in-kind expert acceleration support valued at up to EUR 50,000, provided as Rebuild Green expert hours for project development and preparation of financing or grant applications. This is not a cash prize.
